This insect prevails in the main grapevine cultivated area, in the first region and in the villages close to Deraa province.<br \/>\nFive local varieties Aswad Sharar, Aswad Anony, Qalp Altair, Opaidi and Qasofi were studied. The tolerance of these varieties was evaluated compared with. Helwani cv. as a control. Aswad Sharar was the most tolerant variety compared with others and with the control.<br \/>\nThe ability of this insect to infect species other than grapevine was studied .No hosts other than grapevine was found. The insect infects the roots of <em>v. vinifera<\/em>.<br \/>\nAside study of the biology of this insect was done. Generally, the insect enters winter stage at the end of November, and the beginning of December. It winters as nymph from the second instar. It begins to move in March according to the soil temperature.<br \/>\nThe outbreak of the colonies of phylloxera appears in April and from the beginning of June up to the end of August. The best diameter of roots to lay eggs is 3-5 cm.<br \/>\nThe effect of Oxtoxeen pesticide was evaluated. The percentage of death was 91.6%, but it couldn&#8217;t terminate the whole colonies.
