Abstract

Olive tree is considered the source of income for more than 150,000 families in Syria. Its production contributes to achieving food security (oil and fruits). It forms about 1.5-3.5% of total local production. Irrigation and fertilization are very important factors which affect the production of olive tree. We had studied the effect of irrigation and additional fertilization in growth and flowering of olive tree.
The study includes the effect of irrigation and additional fertilization in the vegetative growth and the accumulation effect of irrigation and additional fertilization on flowering and fruiting in the next season, and their effect on oil proportion in olive fruit and finally on the production of olive  tree.
The result of experiment showed the positive effect of the irrigation and additional fertilization on the growth and fruiting olive tree, this effect was evident in increasing the average of vegetative growth of young tree shoot, and by increasing the average of flowering cluster/ branch, number of flower/ flowering cluster and fruit setting.
The results also showed the effect of irrigation and additional fertilization in increasing the weight of the fruit and production. So, it decreased the alternate bearing which caused irregular product.
