Administration of Field Crops Research

Its responsibility lies in developing high-yielding varieties adaptable to different ecological conditions in Syria and improving production practices of the most important field crops.It consists of the following divisions:1. Cereal research
2. Maize research
3. Legume research
4. Oily crops research
5. Sugar beet research
6. Technological packages research
In addition to the Cereal Technology Laboratory.

Administration of Plant Protection Research

It is interested in the study of different diseases, economic insects, and harmful pests attacking farm crops; identification of protection and control methods especially biological ones; analysis of pesticides and identification of the most efficient ones for the Syrian context; and monitoring of agro-products being free from residual impact. It consists of the following divisions:
1.Plant pathology research.
2. Insects research
3. weeds research
4. Non-entomological animal pests research
5. Nematodes research
6. Insecticides testing and research
7. Analysis of insecticides and residual impact.

Administration of Horticulture Research
It is interested in finding out modern varieties of fruit trees, citrus, olives and vegetables; introducing new farming types into Syrian agricultural structure; giving attention to organic farming; rationalizing the application of fertilizers and insecticides; using biological control practices of entomological pests; and developing greenhouse farming.It consists of the following divisions:
1. Almonds and low-spreading trees research
2. Citrus and tropical plants research
3. Ornamental, medicinal and aromatic plants research
4. Tuber, pulp, leaf and root vegetables research
5. Olives research
6. Apples and grapes research
7. Fruit vegetables research
8. Greenhouse farming research
9. Fruits laboratory
Administration of Natural Resources Research

It is interested in conserving, developing and improving natural agricultural resources; rationalizing the use of water, lands, fertilizers and vegetation; focusing on the development of modern irrigation methods and their propagation among farmers; applying GIS systems; and analyzing agricultural soils for farmers for balanced and rational fertilization as actually needed. All these are for improving the quality of agro-products and reducing production costs.It consists of the following divisions:1. Water requirements and irrigation technology research.
2. Surface water resources management research
3. Water planning and design of irrigation systems
4. Land maintenance and reclamation
5. Agricultural drainage and irrigation water quality research
6. GIS and RS research
7. Environment and pollution
8. Soil physics and chemistry research

Administration of LiveStock Research

It works on the development of local breeds productivity of farm animals, particularly Awassi sheep, Shami cattle, Shami goats, buffaloes and camels through genetic improvement process and improvement of nutrition and care, along with the distribution of improved breeds to animal breeders to improve their flocks and raise their productivity.It consists of the following divisions:
1. Animal breeding and husbandry research
2. Nutrition and fodder research
3. Animal hygiene research
4. Animal physiology and bio-technology research
5. Laboratories
6. Central stations

Administration of Cotton Research

It works on developing new varieties of high-yielding ones with technological specifications and modernizing cotton production methods, especially those related to irrigation methods, bio-control of pests and rational use of insecticides and fertilizers.It consists of the following divisions:
1. Agronomic practices
2. Farm mechanization
3. Cotton technology and monitoring
4. Variety breeding and preservation research
5. Cotton protection

Administration of  Socio-economics Research

It is interested in the problems facing agricultural sector, development potentials and effectiveness of farm technologies innovated at agricultural research centers in order to fulfill the intended aims and identifing their adoption and applicability by farmers.It consists of the following divisions:1. Agro-economic research
2. Social research
3. Utilization of agricultural research findings.

Food Technology Division

It is interested in studying the quality of food product; identifying crop and vegetable varieties with good processing and preservation suitability and adopting relevant methods; studying traditional foods; and applying standard system and finding out efficient ways for dissemination of useful information.It consists of the following sections:

  2. Processing of animal products
  3. Microbiology and food safety research
Bio-technology Division

It is interested in conducting research on plant tissue culture and plant material multiplication by modern methods, in addition to research on fingerprint and plant genetic engineering.It consists of the following sections: .

  1. Genetic engineering.
  2. Molecular biology.
  3. Plant tissue culture and micro-propagation.
Plant Genetic Resources Division
It is interested in conducting research aiming at surveying, studying, conserving, and evaluating wild and cultivated plant genetic resources and local species; and setting up morphological and phonological characteristic to be applied in genetic improvement programmes.It consists of the following sections:
